Aquasplash

Thank goodness - a lifeline for Aquasplash! Or as I commented at the packed council meeting on Wednesday February 26th - a bloody-big lifebuoy has been thrown our way and we should grab it with both hands, feet and anything else we can.

Although West Somerset Council agreed last week to cease operating Aquasplash, Tone Leisure have stepped in and have declared that they believe they can make a go of the pool and the fitness suite. It is now up to those councillors still interested (myself included) to work alongside representatives of the main pool user groups and members of the public to ensure we make the most of this opportunity with Tone Leisure.

I actually believe we should keep what we have, be grateful for we've got and make the most of it. And I believe if the people show the same determination and desire as was demonstrated at the meeting last week, then Aquasplash can be saved - and not only that but actually become a success.

What wonderful news this is and I'm sure a tribute to many people's hard work.

As you say, let's make the most of what we have got. There are many other urgent issues waiting in the wings to be resolved.

Let's hope that this will be the first of a series of steps forward, long awaited by the people of West Somerset :-)

Ingenious idea using a “blog” page, now everybody can have their say on matters which are discussed.

I feel it is a good thing that Tone Leisure have decided to get involved with the Aquasplash site. Although i feel that their financial concentration should be focused on the sites that they already own, from my experience with the company they need to improve standards. It is a great opportunity for them to expand their existing sites as FitnessFirst has liquidised they should take advantage.

PS I support you Mitch for standing up for the community against a crooked local government.

Sorry Louis, I must disagree with you - Tone Leisure have an excellent record for improving take-up and interest in Sport. I have worked alongside them for many years in Taunton and they are a most professional outfit.
If they do come on-board with Aquasplash then I think we shall see the place properly marketed and people actually encouraged to attend.
Let us hope the figures work out and our Members will understand the importance of providing a public swimming pool in West Somerset.

Mmm, and maybe you could then make use of a Minehead-based pool rather than ploughing all your trade into Taunton Mr Butterworth . . . .
